Dear friends,

last month we launched the “Christmas in Contemporary Art” competition inviting everyone to participate with their works in a collective exhibition in  the   Pazzagli Art Park in Florence.

In the event of a lockdown, we will do a virtual online exhibition with images of the works, and video interviews with their authors. The Exhibition in the Park will be postponed to the first post-lockdown date.

We warmly invite you to participate and unleash your creativity in these days that we will spend at home.

Third International Exhibition-Competition

“CHRISTMAS IN CONTEMPORARY ART”

NOTICE

Art.1 – PURPOSE

The EcoRinascimento Cultural Association, announces the Third Edition of the International Competition Exhibition: “ECORINASCIMENTO – CHRISTMAS IN CONTEMPORARY ART” aimed at the promotion  of Contemporary Art, Eco Art, Art of Recycling, Urban Art , of site-specific Art and Land Art.

The event promotes the importance of the role of art, as it was in the cities of the Renaissance.

The competition provides a collective exhibition from 12 December 2020 to 24 January 2021.  In the event of a lockdown, an online exhibition and video will be created in which the artists will describe their works. The exhibition in the Pazzagli Art Park will be postponed to the first post-lockdown date.

During the exhibition the most deserving works will be awarded. With the artist’s consent, some works  may be sold.

During the exhibition there will also be exhibited works “Out of Competition” of fine workmanship, of particular significance and originality.

The theme of the competition are the characters and symbols of Christmas, the Nativity and Motherhood (Christmas trees, Santa Claus, Angels, gifts, reindeer, elves, snowy landscapes, Comet Star, Nativity scenes, Madonna with Child, etc.) represented through Contemporary Art.

The competition is divided into 10 technical categories:

1) SCULPTURE AND INSTALLATION;

2) ECO-ART AND THE ART OF RECYCLING;

3) SITE-SPECIFIC WORKS AND LAND ART;

4) PAINTING;

5) STREET ART;

6) CARTOON;

7) PHOTOGRAPHY ART;

8) DIGITAL ART AND  GRAPHICS;

9) VIDEO ART AND SHORT FILMS;

10) VIDEO AND DIGITAL ANIMATION;

The first classified in each category will be awarded prizes.

 

Art. 2 – ADMISSION CRITERIA

The competition is open to all, without limits of age, sex and nationality. Each competitor can participate with one or more works even in more categories. Competitors can participate individually or in groups.

Participation in the Exhibition-Competition provides for a registration fee of € 20 for each work in competition, to partially cover the costs of managing and organizing the event. For works carried out in groups, registration will be made out to the group leader.

For those who wish to be included in the Catalog, the participation fee is € 50 for the first work and € 20 for each subsequent work. This type of registration entitles you to a copy of the catalog (other copies can be purchased to order).

The works must be made with materials suitable for outdoor exposure. It is also possible to participate with prints of your work. You can send the work already printed on plastic support, or you can send the file to us and we will print it on plexiglass at our trusted supplier (For printing a contribution of € 80 per square meter is required. The printed work will be of your property and you can pick it up in person or by courier)

Participation in the Exhibition-Competition does not give the right to compensation and / or refunds of any kind.

Competitors must register by 10 December  2020.

 

 

Art. 3 – AWARDS

The EcoRinascimento Association reserves the unquestionable right to select the works that will participate in the Competition Exhibition.

The first classified in each category will be decreed by a technical jury.

The first classified in each category will be awarded certificates of recognition.

All participants will receive a certificate of participation.

 

Art. 4 – CATEGORIES AND TECHNIQUES

For the construction of the works, the use of materials suitable for outdoor exposure is required. Any type of material can be used, except those considered declaredly dangerous for the safety of people.

The material, transport, shipping, installation, possible insurance and collection of the works are the responsibility of the competitors.

The categories and technical specifications are as follows:

 

1) SCULPTURE AND INSTALLATION

Works created in any organic or inorganic material, suitable for outdoor exposure.

Large works are preferable, but smaller works are also welcome.

The works can also make use of sounds, lights, mechanical or electrical movements.

The author of the sculpture or installation must provide all the necessary materials and set up the work. Any insurance of the work is borne by the author.

 

2) ECO-ART AND THE ART OF RECYCLING

– Ecologically responsible works of art, suitable for outdoor display.

– Assemblage and Recycled Art: Sculptures, paintings and installations created without technical limits with  recycled materials.

– Works of art made with new materials produced by the processing and transformation of recycled waste.

– Social Sculpture: Works of art that focus on the relationship between environment and society, such as works that involve the local community or that ask the viewer to actively participate.

– Works that combine art, design, scientific and engineering knowledge, bringing a concrete benefit to the environment.

 

3) SITE-SPECIFIC ART AND LAND ART

– Site-Specific Art, Environmental Art, Land Art: works of art where the artistic intervention interacts with the environment. The projects must enhance the space or landscape in which they are inserted.

– Bio art: Works that include living material, such as plants, mosses, flowers, etc.

 

4) PAINTING

Painting: works created in full stylistic and technical freedom, carried out with materials and supports suitable for outdoor exposure (colors and waterproof materials, anti-rust paints on metal, collage, etc.)

It is also possible to participate with prints of your work. You can send the work already printed on plastic support, or you can send the file to us and we will print it on plexiglass at our trusted supplier (For printing a contribution of € 80 per square meter is required. The printed work will be of your property and you can pick it up in person or by courier  )

The works must already be prepared to be hung on the wall or structure suitable for their display

 

5) STREET ART

writing (graffiti), Wild Style, Aerosol Art, murals, and all other forms of street art.  Works made on panels.

 

6) CARTOON

Comics made in full stylistic and technical freedom, inspired by the themes and characters of Christmas. Comics must be made with materials suitable for outdoor display.

It is possible to participate with one or more works printed on a plastic support with a maximum size of 200 × 100 cm. You can send the work already printed on plastic support, or you can send the file to us and we will print it on plexiglass at our trusted supplier (For printing a contribution of € 80 per square meter is required. The printed work will be of your property and you can pick it up in person or by courier )

The works sent must already be prepared to be hung on the wall or structure suitable for their display

 

7) PHOTOGRAPHY ART

The photographs will be exhibited in the outdoor park. It is possible to participate with one or more photographs printed on plastic support with a maximum size of 200 × 100 cm. You can send the work already printed on plastic support, or you can send the file to us and we will print it on plexiglass at our trusted supplier (For printing a contribution of € 80 per square meter is required. The printed work will be of your property and you can collect it in person or by courier.)

It is possible to participate with photographs with digital elaborations. It is possible to register series of photographs.

The works sent must already be prepared to be hung on the wall or structure suitable for their display.

 

8) DIGITAL ART AND GRAPHICS
Works entirely made on the computer or making use of digital applications and devices. Digital images will be exhibited in the Outdoor Park. It is possible to participate with one or more images printed on a plastic medium of maximum size 200×100 cm. You can send the work already printed on plastic media, or you can send the file to us and we will print it on plexiglass at our trusted supplier (a contribution of € 80 per square meter is required for printing. The printed work will be your property and you can pick it up in person or by courier.)

 

9) VIDEO ART AND SHORT FILMS

Video Art, videos, films, short films and works made with all animation techniques on any digital and analog support. The works must last a maximum of 15 minutes, including opening and closing credits. For the selection phase, send the file in formats compatible with the most popular reading tools.

The works will be visible on a screen during the period of the exhibition. They will also be screened on some evenings of the next summer cineforum.

 

10) VIDEO AND DIGITAL ANIMATION

Works entirely made on the computer or using applications and digital devices: animations, videos, installations.

The works must last a maximum of 15 minutes, including opening and closing credits.

The works will be visible on a screen during the period of the exhibition or projected onto trees and elements of the Park.

The digital videos will also be screened in some evenings of the next summer cineforum.

 

 

Art.5 – REGISTRATION FEE

The registration fee is € 20 for each work in competition. It is possible to submit several works, in the same category or in other categories.

For those who wish to be included in the Catalog, the participation fee is € 50 for the first work and € 20 for each subsequent work. This type of registration entitles you to a copy of the catalog (other copies can be purchased to order).

Competitors must keep a copy of the payment. The registration fee is non-refundable.

 

Art. 6 – TERMS AND METHOD OF REGISTRATION

Send the registration form together with the following documents:

  • Short description of the work and Biography for a maximum of 1000 characters
  • Photographs of the work  in high resolution (jpg format, 300 dpi), accompanied by category of participation and caption (artist, title, year, technique, dimensions BxHxL, weight, materials, price). – If the work has yet to be completed, send the photographs of the sculptural sketch or drawing. The descriptive report must contain brief information on the conception of the work, general indications regarding the materials, its realization, and the real dimensions. – Competitors in the Street Art category must send  photographs of the work or sketch of the work they want to create.
  • The Artists must send by e-mail the receipt of the payment of the registration fee for each work in competition. For works carried out in groups, the registration will be made out to the group leader.
  • For the realization of the catalog, the Artists must send by e-mail the photo or drawing of the work they want to publish.

  • Important: To register for the Competition, send only the photograph, and not the work.

  • The registration form must be completed in all its parts and sent by e-mail, under penalty of exclusion from the competition.

  • Send a 3-minute video or audio of the artist describing the work. Or a 3-minute text that we will read in the video describing the work.

Art. 7 – LOCATION

In the event of a lockdown, an on-line exhibition and video will be created in which the artists will describe their works. The Exhibition in the Parco Pazzagli will be postponed to the first post-lockdown date.

The collective exhibition will be held in the Pazzagli Art Park in Florence, in Via Sant’Andrea a Rovezzano 5, Florence.

The Enzo Pazzagli Art Park is an important Contemporary Art Park in Tuscany, in which there are over 250 works by Maestro Enzo Pazzagli.

The park covers about 24,000 square meters, surrounded by a splendid landscape and bordered by the Arno River.

The park itself is a work of Land Art, 300 cypresses create one of the largest living sculptures in the world entitled “The Trinity”, as they form three faces. A work that can be admired in all its grandeur (15,000 square meters) only by looking at it from above or on Google Earth, but which can also be appreciated by walking among the trees. More >>

 

Art. 8 – PHASES AND DEADLINES

Applications must be received by December 10, 2020.

Send photos of the works to create the exhibition online by 10 December.

For the Exhibition in the Park, the works must arrive and be installed the week before the start of the Exhibition, which will be done on the first post-lockdown date.

The material, transport, installation, possible insurance and collection of the works are the responsibility of the author.

Competitors who want to send their works will be able to communicate it by e-mail and we will send them the contact details for the shipment.

The shipping costs (round trip), packaging, installation and insurance of the works will be borne and by the individual competitors.

All the works that will not be sold during the exhibition will be returned to the author, unless otherwise agreed.

It is the faculty of the artist to donate his work to the EcoRinascimento Association.

 

Art. 9 – JURY AND SELECTION

The EcoRinascimento Association reserves the unquestionable right to select the works that will participate in the Competition Exhibition.

A Technical Jury will decide the first classified in each Category and the “Technical Jury Award”. The composition of the jury will be announced in the coming months.

 

Art. 10 – CATALOG

The catalog can be purchased by visitors to the Park and online.

A copy will be given to the artists who have requested to be included in the catalog and who have paid the fee for the insertion.

For the realization of the catalog, the Artists must send by e-mail the photo or drawing of the work they want to publish.

Artists will be able to collect the catalog at the end of the exhibition.

On request, artists can buy advertising pages in the catalog (For information contact EcoRinascimento)

Additional copies of the catalog can be purchased with a contribution of 40 € for each copy. They can also be purchased online by sending an e-mail to info.ecorinascimento@gmail.com, which will provide the payment details. (Shipping costs are the responsibility of the buyer).

 

Art. 11 – LIABILITY

The EcoRinascimento Cultural Association, while ensuring the utmost care and custody of the works received, declines all responsibility for any theft, fire or damage of any kind to the works that may occur during the stages of the event. Any insurance request must be signed by the Artist himself.

The material, transport, shipping, installation, possible insurance and collection of the works are the responsibility of the author.

 

Art. 12 – CONSENT

Participants grant EcoRinascimento the authorization to process personal data, pursuant to art. 13 of the GDPR (EU regulation 2016/679), also for the purpose of inclusion in the EcoRinascimento databases.

With the Author’s consent, the works on display may be sold by the EcoRinascimento Association to interested visitors, and delivered to them preferably at the end of the exhibition (unless otherwise requested by the buyers and in agreement with the author)

The price of the work will be agreed with the author.

50% of the sale will go to the EcoRinascimento Association, which will do its utmost to promote and sell the works.

The proceeds from the sales will be used to finance the cultural initiatives and organizational expenses of the EcoRinascimento Association.

Participants grant EcoRinascimento the rights to reproduce the works for the organization’s communication, promotion and activity needs for publication in the catalog and in the dedicated section of the website www.ecorinascimento.com, in accordance with the laws relating to the right of author.

This announcement is drawn up in Italian and translated into other languages. In the event of a conflict between the original written in a foreign language and the original written in Italian, the parties will prevail and the one written in Italian will prevail.

EcoRinascimento will have the right to make a final decision on anything not specified in the announcement. The right to modify this announcement is also preserved if necessary for organizational needs.

Membership and participation in the prize imply the unconditional acceptance of this announcement in its entirety.
